Devices that work with Cube IPTV

If it has a screen and a stable internet connection, it will almost certainly run. This is the confirmed list, along with what each one is genuinely good at.

The full device list

Ranked by how well they actually perform, not by how many we would like to sell you.

Amazon Fire TV

Stick HD, Stick 4K, 4K Max, Cube, Fire TV Edition sets

The one we set up most often. Cheap, small, and the install route is well worn. Go for the 4K Max if your TV is 4K or your wi-fi is crowded, because the radio is better as well as the chip.

BEST ALL-ROUNDER

Android TV boxes

Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi Mi Box, Chromecast with Google TV

Our pick if the TV sits far from the router, because most have an ethernet port and a cable removes the commonest cause of stutter outright.

BEST FOR WEAK WI-FI

Samsung smart TVs

Tizen sets, roughly 2018 onward

Tidy, with no extra box or second remote. On sets older than about six years the built-in processor struggles and a cheap stick will beat the TV it plugs into.

SUPPORTED

LG smart TVs

webOS sets, roughly 2018 onward

Same story as Samsung. Install a player from the LG Content Store, or hang an Android stick off it if the set is older.

SUPPORTED

MAG and Formuler

MAG 250 to 540, Formuler Z8, Z10, Z11

Purpose-built IPTV hardware that does one job consistently, which is why installers favour it. Setup differs: you send us the MAC address and we bind the line to it.

SET-TOP SPECIALIST

Android phones and tablets

Android 7 and above

Good as a second or third screen, and for watching in bed or away from home. Not a replacement for a proper TV setup.

SUPPORTED

iPhone and iPad

iOS 14 and above

Works through a supported player from the App Store. Expect the guide to load more slowly on a weak mobile signal.

SUPPORTED

Windows and macOS

Any reasonably modern laptop or desktop

Handy for a quick check that your line is live, or for watching at a desk. Browser playback works for spot checks.

SUPPORTED

Older or unbranded boxes

Generic Android boxes, very old smart TVs

Often technically capable and practically frustrating. Slow menus, stale firmware and poor wi-fi radios. Ask us before spending money.

What actually decides the picture

People spend a long time choosing a device and almost no time on the two things that matter more. In our support queue, hardware is rarely the culprit.

Device questions

Almost certainly not. Tell us the make and model and we will confirm before you spend a penny. We would rather talk you out of buying hardware you do not need than sell you a box.

If the TV is near the router, a Fire TV Stick 4K Max. If it is not, an Android box with an ethernet port. Those two cover the overwhelming majority of households.

Yes. The line can be installed anywhere you like. What your plan limits is how many streams play at the same time, which is a separate thing from how many devices it is installed on.

Not to use the service. Some people prefer one for general privacy, which is a personal decision. If you do run one, pick a nearby server, because a distant exit point adds latency and can cause buffering that has nothing to do with us.

Send us the model. If it will work well we will say so, and if it will not we will tell you that instead of taking your money and hoping.

Not sure your device will cope?

Send us the make and model. We will give you a straight answer, including when the answer is no.
