Buffering is the complaint we hear most, and the honest answer is that the provider is only sometimes the cause. There are five links in the chain between a broadcast and your screen, and any one of them can be the weak point. Here is how to work out which.
Start by narrowing it down
Before changing anything, answer three questions. Does it happen on every channel or one? At every time of day or only in the evening? On every device on your account or just one?
One channel means a server route, and we can fix that in minutes. One device means hardware. Evenings only means congestion, either on your line or your street. Everything, all the time, means something is genuinely misconfigured.
Test your connection properly
Run a speed test on the device that is struggling, not on your phone in another room. You want a stable 15 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps or more for 4K.
Stability matters more than the headline number. A consistent 20 Mbps beats a 100 Mbps line that drops for two seconds every few minutes, because a brief dropout empties the buffer and the picture freezes while it refills. If your speed test result swings wildly when you run it three times, that instability is your problem.
Get off wi-fi if you can
This fixes more cases than every other step combined. An ethernet cable from router to device removes interference, distance and competing traffic in one move. If a cable is impossible, move to the 5GHz band, get the device line-of-sight to the router, and keep it away from microwaves and cordless phones.
Powerline adapters are a reasonable middle ground in older houses, though they perform poorly across different circuits.
Check what else is on the network
A single household can quietly saturate its own connection. A game console downloading an update, a cloud backup running, someone else on a video call – any of these will take priority over your stream if the router is not managing traffic. Pause the downloads and see whether the problem disappears.
Adjust the player buffer
Most IPTV players let you increase the buffer size. A larger buffer means a slightly longer wait when you change channel, but far fewer interruptions once playing. On a marginal connection this is the single most useful setting, and it is the first thing our support team adjusts.
Restart in the right order
Router first, wait a full minute, then the streaming device. Restarting them together often leaves the device connected to a router that has not finished coming back up.
When to message us
If it is one channel, or a group of channels, or it started suddenly with nothing changed at your end, stop troubleshooting and tell us. Send the channel name and the time it happened. In most cases it is a route we can switch you off straight away, and there is no reason for you to spend an evening testing cables for a problem on our side.
